First Wessex appoints Chambers Waste Management Services
We are delighted to announce that Chambers Waste Management have been awarded the contract for the provision of waste management services at First Wessex.
First Wessex (soon to merge with Sentinel Housing Association to become VIVID) are a Hampshire-based housing association providing homes and services within local communities throughout Hampshire and parts of Surrey. They pride themselves on working closely with residents and surrounding communities to make sure they deliver high-quality homes and services. They currently manage and maintain around 20,500 affordable homes. Following the merger, VIVID will manage over 30,000 homes and will develop over 1,000 new homes a year.
The scope of the contract includes handling all waste produced during planned and responsive repairs to the Aldershot properties managed by the VIVID Repairs team. The VIVID Repairs team consists of approximately 300 trade staff who are responsible for grounds & estates maintenance, planned maintenance (including kitchen & bathroom refurbishments, cyclical decorations and gas heating installations) and responsive maintenance (including gas engineering and electrical works, roofing and fencing). Collectively, they complete in excess of 5,000 property repairs per month, resulting in the production and handling of a wide range of household, commercial and industrial waste, which in 2015 was in excess of 3,500 tonnes
Additionally the contract includes construction waste produced by First Wessex Homes (to become VIVID Build following the merger) and also the handling of any waste left by former tenants in void properties or in communal areas of occupied properties, and any additional waste produced during operation of other premises First Wessex are involved with, including community centres, hostels, extra care schemes and any catering establishments.
