Our Recycling Facilities
Our recycling site in Slyfield, near Guildford, is one of the most advanced in the country.

We’re committed to maximising the recovery of reusable materials and minimising the volume sent to landfill. In 2003 we invested in a top-of-the-range materials recovery facility (MRF).
The MRF enables us to separate and recover materials including bricks, concrete, timber, metals and soil. The 2,000 square metre facility takes waste materials through various stages:
1) a large rotating drum called a trommel, separating materials based on their size
2) magnets to remove steel and other magnetic metals
2) a windshifter, or air classifier, that separates materials by their weight
4) and finally manual sorting of the remaining materials.
We currently recycle 85-90% of construction waste, up to 100% of waste paper and card and 70% of all the waste that we handle. We’ll soon be installing an additional machine to mechanically sort smaller items of waste to help us recycle even more.
All our recycling operations are permitted and monitored by the Environment Agency.
