Where can I have my skip delivered?

We can drop skips on private property such as a driveway, with the owner’s permission, or on the road outside the property, subject to any local council licensing laws.

How long before we want the skip do I have to place my order?

We can usually deliver your skip on the day you place your order, as long as you order before 3pm.

If you want us to collect or exchange a skip, please call us on 01483 504595. We’ll either come out same day or the next working day, depending on our workload.

Do we need to seek permission to put a skip on the road?

No, we’ll obtain the relevant permit. There will be a small fee, which varies depending on the local authority. If the skip will be placed on a private road, in some cases it won’t be necessary to apply for a permit.

If we’re unable to obtain the necessary permit, we’ll offer you our wait and load service instead. Call us on 01483 504595 to find out more.

What size of skip do I need?

The size you’ll need depends on the volume of waste you expect to generate. We supply skips from 4 to 12 yards and RORO (roll on and off) containers from 20 to 35 yards.

It’s important to remember that skips must only be loaded up to the top of the sides. For safety reasons we won’t collect overloaded skips.

If you end up producing more waste than you’d anticipated, don’t worry. Just order a replacement skip and we’ll make the exchange the next working day at the latest.

If in doubt, please contact us on 01483 504595.

Is there anything I can't put in a skip?

The following is a list of materials and objects that have been deemed hazardous by the environment agency and may not be placed into your container without prior arrangement with Chambers Waste Management Plc:

If you are unsure if your materials are deemed hazardous, then please call us on 01483 504595, where we will be happy to assist you.

What should we do if our waste is hazardous?

Under the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, hazardous waste producers are required to pre-register before any hazardous waste can be collected from their premises.

Some sites are exempt. For example offices, shops, schools and hospitals don’t need to register if they produce less than 200kg of hazardous waste in a year. All other types of premises do need to register, even if they produce less than 200kg.

Call us on 01483 504595 to find out about our hazardous waste collection service.

How long can we keep a skip for?

The standard hire period for 4 to 6 yard skips is 14 days. We don’t automatically collect them after this time, so please give us a call on 01483 504595 when you’d like us to collect or exchange your skip. We’ll come out either the same day or the next working day.

For all other sizes of skips and RORO containers, the maximum hire period is seven days.

What will happen to the waste we put in the skip?

All the materials we collect in skips and ROROs go back to our waste recycling site in Slyfield. We sort the materials and recycle as much as possible – usually 85-90%.

Any remaining inert waste will go to our carefully managed landfill site in Runfold, which is gradually converting sand and gravel quarries back into agricultural land. Click here to read more.

Will a skip fit on our drive?

A standard driveway is usually adequate for storing a skip, however the entrance must be at least 2.9 metres (9 feet 6 inches) wide for us to safely deliver and collect the skip.

For sites with limited access you might like to consider our Muckaway service as an alternative to a skip.

What if the skip or the delivery vehicle damages my property?

Sorry, but we can’t accept responsibility for any damage caused to your property. Of course all our drivers are fully trained and make every effort to deliver, collect and exchange skips without causing any damage.
