Big thanks from the Surrey County Show

The organisers of the Surrey County Show have been in touch to thank us for supporting this year’s event – which they have declared as the best for some years.

A record 31,000 people descended on Stoke Park for the event which is the UK’s biggest one day agricultural show. We provided 120 wheelie bins to help keep the showground litter free, in addition to very large Roll On Roll Off (RORO) containers for the animal waste. All the rubbish was taken to our Guildford Recycling Centre, with 98 per cent of the waste recycled.

Tracey Longhurst, Chief Executive of the Surrey County Agricultural Society said: “In our 65th year with the weather on our side, our livestock and equine competitions in full swing and the Monster Trucks in the main arena,  our visitor numbers rocketed to record levels. Consequently, we are very proud to say that this has been our best Show for some years.  This could not be done without the partnership of the tireless event team and our generous sponsors.

“We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for supporting the Society by providing the waste management free of charge again this year.  Please thank Graham Strong, your Operations and Quarry Manager for all his help on the day.  Every aspect of the show that gains such support means that we can utilise the funds made from the Show towards both future County Shows and the other aspects of our education agenda, all of which are hugely important to us.

“We are proud to partner with Chambers Waste Management and we look forward to continuing to build a valuable and mutually beneficial relationship in coming years. It is our sincere hope that you will join us again in 2020 when we create an even bigger and better event to support our agricultural education agenda in Surrey.”
