Chambers goes electric!
We are proud to reach a new milestone in sustainable waste management. Chambers has added its first zero tailpipe emission electric vehicle, a Volvo FE Electric skip loader, to the fleet. This innovative vehicle strengthens our position as a leader in eco-friendly waste collection across Surrey, Hampshire, and Sussex.
Known for our 98% waste recycling rate, we continue to enhance our environmental performance with this latest investment. The Volvo FE Electric skip loader features advanced Hyva technology. It transforms how we deliver skip collection services in our areas. The vehicle not only reduces carbon emissions but also lowers noise pollution, benefiting local communities.
Pete Chambers, our Managing Director, says: “This electric skip loader represents more than just a new fleet vehicle. It demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and our responsibility to the communities we serve. We are proud to lead the shift toward cleaner, quieter waste management solutions.”
This electric skip loader combines technical excellence with environmental responsibility. Designed specifically for waste management, it meets the highest standards of efficiency and reliability. Supplied by Transport Solutions from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East, the vehicle comes with a Volvo Gold Contract, ensuring all maintenance occurs within the Volvo Trucks dealer network. This guarantees optimal performance and a long service life.
One standout feature is the skip loader’s ability to operate for a full day on a single charge. We charge it overnight at our facility, seamlessly integrating it into our operations while significantly cutting our carbon footprint.
At Chambers, we view electric vehicles as a vital evolution in waste management fleets. By adopting this technology, we aim to inspire a ripple effect across the industry while tackling climate change head-on.
