We’re helping to keep the Surrey County Show litter free
The Spring bank holiday is approaching and for most local people that can only mean one thing – the 65th Surrey County Show.
Around 30,000 people will descend on Stoke Park on Monday 27th May for the event, which is the UK’s biggest one day agricultural show. It will bring together hundreds of animals, food and drink, top class entertainment and exquisite rural crafts to provide an unmissable day out with something for every member of the family. And better still, the weather forecast is looking good!
We’re pleased to be supporting the show again for the eighth year running by providing 120 wheelie bins to help keep the showground litter free, in addition to very large Roll On Roll Off (RORO) containers for the animal waste. All the rubbish will be taken to our Guildford Recycling Centre where our team will segregate paper, wood, cardboard and plastic. Up to 98 per cent of the waste will be recycled, and any non-recyclable residue will be baled and wrapped to produce a high quality refuse-derived fuel product – meaning none will be sent to landfill.
Tracey Longhurst, Acting Chief Executive of the Surrey County Show, said: “We are extremely lucky that Chambers supports the Show by providing the waste management infrastructure. Partnering with Chambers in this way means that our teams of litter pickers are able to keep the showground clear of rubbish which makes for a pleasant environment for all our visitors throughout the day. We also know that by using Chambers we are disposing of our waste responsibly because a large proportion of the waste produced is recycled in some way. Both of these factors are tremendously important to us.”
Located at North Moors, GU1 1SE, our Guildford Recycling Centre (also known as our Materials Recovery Facility), handles waste for trade, construction and household customers. Find out more about our recycling services here or contact firstname.lastname@example.org /01483 504 595.
